The Aberdeen Academy of Beauty Therapy was founded in 2020 by Alana Forrest & Sammy MacDonald who between them have over 38 years of experience within business, beauty & training. Both beauty gurus are award winning beauty therapists who each have their own salons & met due to their love & similar views of the beauty industry. The goal for the Academy is to raise the standards in this ever evolving industry by passing on a little bit of our love, passion and dedication, while teaching our courses in the best way possible. Our academy strives to provide students with the best training possible by teaching courses only taught by educators who specialise in that area. We supply only the best products in our kits so students can be confident when they leave the academy the kit & learning materials they take home is of a high standard. Welcome to our beauty obsession.
The Academy is located in a recently refurbished building overlooking the harbour. It is extremely accessible for cars, with a multi-storey car park to the rear of the building. Union Point is also within walking distance of Aberdeen train & bus stations meaning we can always accommodate students from out-with the Aberdeen area. Our training rooms have ample space & hold 8 beauty beds, 8 nail bars & 8 make-up stations. In our facility we are able to accommodate classes, workshops, bootcamps & even conferences in our spacious suite. We have 7 resident educators & will regularly host guests from around the UK to bring a vast range of opportunities to Aberdeen & Scotland as a whole.
SUMMARY OF COMPANY
The Aberdeen Academy of Beauty Therapy offers a range of fully accredited beauty therapy courses to suit all individuals. We can cater for complete beginners, qualified therapists who wish to update their skills or experienced therapists who would like to offer new treatments. Our courses are taught by educators who each specialise in specific areas so the students are able to gain invaluable knowledge from industry experts. Participants of our courses are given kits consisting of products which are tried, tested & chosen by ourselves. Our support doesn’t end when our courses do, our tutors are always on hand if students need any follow up help. Many of our courses require case studies to be carried out at home or in the salon after the training day, this is to ensure the therapist has a full understanding & is confident with their newly learnt skills. We aim to provide the best-accredited training & bring Scotland some great guest educators from this amazing industry.

"Hey Guys, I'm Sammy. I have been in the beauty industry for over 20 years (that makes me feel so old!) and I absolutely love my job. I have won over 30 industry awards throughout my career and I love pushing myself to learn new things. I have two large Beauty Salons - soon to be three and I love teaching and developing my team. I have been an educator for the last ten years for some big brands. I'm so excited for the teaching experience we are going to bring to the city, with full support throughout, great facilities and the best education team Aberdeen has to offer. I specialise in Nails and Microblading/SPMU and with all our educators teaching in their specialist fields we can cover all your training needs."
"Hi I'm Alana, I have been in the industry for over 18 years now. From a young teen I knew this was what I wanted to do. I love treating my clients and love doing treatments where we can really see the transformation. Eyelash extensions are my speciality. I love being able to tailor each set to my client’s requirements. I have picked up a few awards over the years and I love entering lash competitions and industry awards. There is so much to learn in this industry, and we can never know too much. I have attended many courses and the quality really varied, which made me want to bring better education to Aberdeen to support our ever-evolving industry. I have owned my salon Pink Lily for over 8 years so the next step for me was always to go into education. Sharing my knowledge, skills and love for beauty is something I get so excited about. Together with Sammy we intend on raising industry standards in the local area."
"Hello I'm Laura and my beauty journey started when I was only 15 and left school to attend Aberdeen Collage of Beauty Therapy. Since then I have gained so much salon experience and training to further my skills and technique. I'm now the area manager of The Studio Salons. For the last four years I have specialised in male and female intimate waxing and Brow treatments. Last year I was crowned Beauty Therapist of The Year at the NEHBA. I enjoy helping my team strengthen their skills and cannot wait to be able to train so many others,"
"Hi, I'm Katie I have been in the beauty industry for a number of years, having a couple of breaks to have my beautiful babies. I love working in this industry, I love doing treatments and seeing a noticeable finished result but also enjoy being with my clients. I have many regular clients who have become friends over the years. Facials are definitely my favourite treatment. Everything from a relaxing facial massage to micro needling. I enjoy educating myself on all the available products and find new skin care research so interesting. I have been a trainer in a previous role and I can not wait to teach you all. I get very excited when learning new skills and hope I can bring this excitement to my classroom."
"I'm Emily and I began my beauty journey at Aberdeen College studying my Level 2 and Level 3 in Beauty Therapy. Whilst studying I gained first hand experience in a fantastic salon. Working in the Beauty industry has given me so much more confidence and I am looking forward to helping all my students get to where they want to be. I enjoy all treatments but my favourites are definitely gel polish, massage and facials. I am now running a salon in the Bridge of Don area in the city and love how my career has grown. I'm very excited to watch all of your careers grow!"
"Hey, I'm Emily. I'm little and clumsy with a particular eye for detail. I started in the beauty industry after completing an HND in Art and have never looked back. I love that my qualification has rolled over into my day job. I currently hold a Supervisor position in a busy salon in the west end of Aberdeen. My talkative bubbly personality will help you feel at ease with learning new skills and I'm super excited to teach you all and watching your journey in this fabulous industry!"
"Hello guys I'm Jenny, Make-up has always played a HUGE part in my life; from watching my Mum doing her make-up ready to perform on stage when I was a little girl to now winning awards, editorial, fashion work and also opening my very own make-up studio. What I love about Make-up is the confidence it gives us to truly be yourself and also the transformation aspect where you can be someone completely different. Being a Make-up artist, teaching is such a special part of what I do. I have experience teaching on a 1-1 basis, group and classroom environment. Make-up is an art and I'm so excited to teach you new skills and share everything I know!"
