The BeautyBooker Training Hub Welcomes “The Academy” as its newest Training Providers

As BeautyBooker expands so does the ability for us to bring you new training providers. We are absolutely thrilled to offer our users training with the multi award winning “The Academy” based in Glasgow.

Here is “The Academy’s owners Jenny & Kate to tell us more.

How long have you been in the industry?

Jenny has been in the beauty industry 22 years and Kate has been in business management for 20 years. We make the perfect combination of beauty and business experience and knowledge, which is what makes The Academy so unique.

When and why did you decide to pursue a career in teaching?

We saw a gap in the market for professional, accredited quality training. There are too many quick fix options for ‘beauty training’ which don’t offer real certification and too many people that claim to be accredited when they’re not. When clients are putting their trust into a therapist, nail tech, lash tech etc., they’re expecting the treatment to be carried out properly and safely. At The Academy, we aim to ensure all our students leave able to do this.

What skills do you teach at the The Academy?

What makes The Academy different is that we believe training in a beauty course goes deeper than just learning the treatment itself. We teach professionalism, importance of hygiene, business tips and hints, social media photography tips and hints, how to grow following as well as core knowledge for each subject.

How many courses do you have?

Altogether, we run 29 different courses at the minute. This is a combination of accreditations, qualifications, and workshops. We’re always on the lookout for the latest industry trends so we can provide up to date courses that salons and beauty therapists want to train in. We have courses for career-changes, where no pre-requirements are necessary, and we teach every element of the course from scratch. To Continuous Professional Development courses for therapists and salon owners looking to upgrade their skills and increase their revenue.

What advice would you give someone who is considering one of your courses?

To have a chat with one of us to start off with to check it’s the right thing for you. There are so many avenues you can go down within beauty – it’s not a one size fits all and you don’t have to go down the same route as someone else. We’ve been in the field so long we can gage what’s best for you through picking out key areas in our conversation and working out the best route for you to go down. Our courses are an investment in your future and we treat it as such.

What benefits does partnering with BeautyBooker training provide to you and your customers?

We love that partnering with BeautyBooker is giving us a big ad field on such a professional platform. We have the same passion for the industry and our values are very much the same – we love partnering with businesses who have the same ethos as us, it’s something we are really focused on.

Why should people be booking your courses now?

We have the beauty knowledge, the business knowledge, our ethics are in place, and we have the right accreditations, qualifications, and insurance.

The beauty industry has taken a hit since March 2020 but we’re really supportive of BABTAC’s latest campaign #BookInForBeauty, encouraging clients to book in for treatments to support the industry, save jobs and also to improve their mental health. It’s the best time for therapists to train in wellbeing-based treatments that they can offer clients.

We created the world’s first CIBTAC endorsed CBD accreditations in massage, facial and recently body wraps. We also offer courses in reflexology and other holistic treatments. We’re at the top of our game with all of our courses and we know how we can increase your revenue by training with us.

How do you see the industry changing moving forward?

Since covid I can see insurance companies being harder on the accreditation standards, which is not a bad thing. Over the years, we’ve seen too many fake accreditations and people spending their hard-earned cash on courses that they can’t then get insured from. It’s not what the industry should be about and we’re welcoming that change.

We also see there being more of a focus on health and wellbeing after covid. So for treatments like CBD Massage, Holistic, etc. we expect salons will notice a huge increase in bookings. People are becoming more inclined to spend on their wellbeing.
